“This course will help you learn to read and asses the constantly changing BC environment, teaching you the safety and rescue skills that we all hope to avoid using but definitely need to know.

If you’re a realtive BC Newcomer or a seasoned Freeride addict, this course will help you learn to assess and evaluate your active decisions and keep you on the exciting pathway to greater and greater adventures”.

The High Mountain Backcountry Safety Skills course in Chamonix, combines the perfect blend of Backcountry Freeriding with on snow technical safety skills sessions.

During the course you will cover the BC essentials such as Snowpack assessment, Avalanche terrain assessment and the everyday Avalanche safety and rescue knowledge and drills essential to every would be Freerider.

We will also explore the lesser known but equally essential art of picking your line both up and down the mountain, assessing the terrain, using both the known and unknown indicators that we use as professional High Mountain Guides on a daily basis.

We will look at the essential rope work needed for rope access and safe travel on both steep, non glaciated and glaciated terrain and work through the various rope work procedures used for efficient crevasse rescue.

This course is designed for Freeriders, both relatively new to the Backcountry game and those highly experienced BC addicts needing to brush up, re learn or attain the necessary skills needed in order to make that next step into the beyond.

If you plan on being able to make your own decisions and your own forays into the ever changing world of the Backcountry Freerider then this course will definitely open your eyes and help you see whats involved in order to follow the correct path in making valued and balanced decisions in the High Mountains.
